Hello fellow Hexers,

Another month has passed. Let’s have a look at the data for the 28 days period spanning from June 9th to July 7th in Hex. Before we dive into the data, let’s look at the events that happened during that period that could have an effect on general activity.

Yep… that’s pretty much it. Nothing worth noting happened in the past 4 weeks. Anybody who’s been following community news is well aware of the current situation, so it will come as a surprise to no one that the numbers in this month’s report aren’t stellar.

While Cory did somewhat address the situation, he did also announce that set 10 would be delayed by a minimum of 2 months. As such, unless something exceptional happens, this will be the last of my monthly reports until set 10 is out.

Most values will have one or two percentage values next to them. When that is the case, those percentages represent the change of that data point for this period compared to:

  • First value: 28 days preceding the current period (from May 12th to June 8th)
  • Second value: 28 days of equivalent age from the previous set (in this case, Dead of Winter, from February 10th to March 10th)

Limited play

In the current period, there were 1,076 (-37.3%/-66.4%) draft gauntlets, 2,334 (-29.8%/-54.1%) evo sealed gauntlets and 24 (-41.5%/-93.1%) sealed gauntlets completed.

Looking more closely into draft data, we find that 270 (-32.3%/-57.7%) draft pods fired, and 1,076 (-37.3%/-66.4%) draft gauntlets runs were completed. On average, 4.0 (+0.0%/-20.0%) runs were completed per pod.

As for the Clash, an average of 38 (-35.6%/-44.1%) players participated in each event, with 150 (-30.9%) different players participating across the period.

Constructed play

In the observed period, 30,466 (-18.5%/-32.6%) constructed ladder matches were played. The effect of the Cosmic Coins on ladder activity was very short lived, and we’re back on a downwards trend. Bash tournaments had an average of 29.0 (-27.5%/-54.0%) players, with 121 (-26.2%) different people participating across the 8 events in the period. An average of 33.0 (-36.5%/-38.9%) players signed up for the Arcanum Vault scheduled tournaments, and 38 (-2.6%/-39.7%) players participated in the FiveShards Weekly tournaments. Finally, the Fight Night had an average of 28.0 (-26.3%/-47.2%) players, while the Singles Night had an average of 4.0 (-20.0%/-66.7%) players signed up.

The newly introduced Immortal Gauntlet is practically dead on arrival, with 168 gauntlet runs completed over 28 days (an average of 6 runs per day), with 442 matches (an average of 15.8 matches per day).

Merry Melee saw a similar drop in activity with a total of 2377 (-48.0%) runs across all the formats, down from 4575 last month. The novelty factor being gone, and the special reward of a sleeve not being re-obtainable, players are overall less interested in the mode.

One important thing to note here is that, given the very low amount of Sealed gauntlets that were completed, the sample size is small enough that the champions ranked 7 to 10 have actually been seen in only 3 matches, which makes win percentages such as 100% possible.
