Hello fellow Hexers,

It’s that time again. Let’s have a look at the data for the month of November in Hex. A lot of things happened in November that had an effect on the numbers.

  • The 8th set of PvP cards (Dead of Winter) was released
  • Sets 3 and 4 (Armies of Myth and Primal Dawn) rotated out of Standard Constructed
  • Several stability patches have made the PS4 client a lot more usable and enjoyable
  • The Immortal Weekly tournament series was added to the API messages, so data about it could start being collected
  • Fight Night (Rock tournament series) began

When a value has two percentage values next to it, the first represents the change of that value compared to the previous month, while the second represents the change of that value compared to the equivalent month of the previous set (July of 2017, first month of Frostheart).

Limited play

In November, there were 8,784 (-10.4%/-1.7%) draft gauntlets, 14,526 (+264.7%/-3.0%) evo sealed gauntlets and 1,442 (+1153.9%/-5.4%) sealed gauntlets completed.

Looking more closely into draft data, we find that 1,573 (-6.4%/+2.3%) draft pods fired in November and 8,784 (-10.4%/-1.7%) draft gauntlets runs were completed. On average, 5.7 (-0.9%/-0.2%) runs were completed per pod.

It’s worth noting that the draft queues in October were presenting a special format (Kismet Drafts) that was hugely popular, as opposed to the sealed and evo sealed queues which remained Frostheart. That is why there seems to be a drop in activity in the draft queue, but it should rather be seen as almost maintaining the very high level of activity that Kismet drafts had.

Constructed play

In November, 59,905 (+60.8%/+108.5%) constructed ladder matches were played.

The FiveShards weekly tournaments attracted an average of 85.1 (+73.3%/+75.5%) players in the Arcanum Vault scheduled tournaments, and 69.4 (+66.4%/+36.5%) players participated in the FiveShards Weekly tournaments.

The Hex Primal weekly tournaments had a turnout of 24.8 players on average for the Immortal Weekly series, while an average of 124.4 players participated in Fight Night.

Finally, the Bash had an average of 66.7 (-2.3%) players.

A total of 1124 (+96.2%/+72.7%) distinct players have been spotted in scheduled tournaments over the month.

The constructed ladder is as active as ever. A fresh new meta, combined with the ever growing PS4 player base, results in a much improved situation for competitive constructed play. November 2017 has been the most active month on the constructed ladder since data has been made available.
